1. The genre is fiction for children–aim for ages 2-1 or 4-5 years of age. You should be styling it after a picture book.
2. Your main character must have something in common with a political figure, similar to how a teddy bear was named for president theodore roosevelt after it became known that he refused to shoot a bear that was tied to a tree.
3.identify the voice or sound of your story. things to consider are whether or not to include alliteration, onomatopoeia, rhyming, repeated vocabulary words, etc.
4. Design your illustrations. You may use the computer, cut-and-paste pictures from a magazine, your own creations, or have a guest artist. Just remember that you cannot claim the work of someone else–even from an unknown person from the internet. 5.include at least two different literary devices.
6. write purposefully. your book must have a message or a teaching moment.
