Statistics indicate that there is an average of sixteen thousand deaths in the United States alone that are a direct result of chest trauma (Bosman et al, 2012). However, the situation becomes more life-threatening especially when there is a delay in treatment. Consequently, this paper analyses various issues concerning penetrating chest injuries regarding causes, signs and symptoms, identifying, pre-hospital management, hospital management, and complications that may occur as a result of detecting penetrating chest injuries lately.
