Complete Professional Communication Task (DEX)

Instructions

Persuasive Messages

Scenario: Your supervisor disagrees with your suggestion that employees should be allowed to create online profiles in LinkedIn. You believe that communicating with others on LinkedIn will give employees an opportunity to meet their peers and will also provide potential leads and business partners. However, your supervisor believes that other companies will get an opportunity to review her employees’ qualifications and might make them employment offers that they would accept. You believe you can persuade your supervisor to accept your perspective and are deciding whether to send an e-mail or to speak with her in person.

Complete the following tasks:

  1. Create an e-mail to your supervisor explaining your perspective on the matter of LinkedIn profiles. Use the information you have learned about presenting both verbal and nonverbal messages as you write the e-mail.
  2. Describe what might be different about your message if you speak with your supervisor in person rather than send an e-mail. Use the concepts you learned about both verbal and nonverbal messages as you write your answer (300-word minimum).
  3. Compare your two messages, and explain which medium might be more persuasive.

Requirements: Combine all three steps into one document, but separate all three steps into three pages. You can do this by inserting a page break after each step. This assignment does not require a title page or a reference page. All three sections together should total at least 900 words.

Writing two Comments about my classmates’s opinion

Hi, I want a help from you about writing two comments. I am going to past their posts here and I want from you to write your reply on their comment , I am doing discussion board about the Syllabs. Finaly, there is a (Rubric Discussion Board) I want from you to see it before writing two individual comments.

First comment by Betto :

When things are received in a compact way, its always a great help for doing something in an eminent manner. Here we had received a completely well-defined syllabus which is appreciable. From this we get a clear idea on what all things we have to do on completing a particular writing. The one thing which is most noticeable in the syllabus is that, it has well mentioned on the dos and don’t that we have to be watchful on writing something. As each weekly works are already scheduled, we will get enough time on preparing and organizing our fields of writing. As all assignments are restricted to be in MLA format, we will get a visible idea about MLA format, citations etc.

Second comment by Monica Lieving

I believe that this syllabus is very clearly defined. I really like that all of our writing assignments are already described which gives us plenty of time to start brainstorming in order to get a head start. The grading scale is also explained very well which is a very important thing to me and many others. I’m also very glad that the discussion boards are explained in lots of detail because some professors do not clearly tell you what they want for discussion boards. Overall this is a very easy to understand syllabus. I’m personally very excited that this course deals with argumentation papers. What are all of you looking forward to in this class?

Hiring a New Bartender

Scenario:

Peter Luger owns a sports bar called “Lugers Sports Bar and Grill” in New York City. His bar is about ten years old and has a maximum capacity for about 75 people. It’s well known and is very prestigious to many patrons who dine there. Mr. Luger is in need of a new bartender that can work late shifts and closing hours. He has four applicants that may or may not fit the application requirements.

  • The first applicant, John, is 25 years old, energetic, a college graduate, has his own transportation, has experience working in a restaurant and is ready to take on any challenge, but he is high- tempered and has little to no experience working with alcohol.
  • The second applicant, Scott, is 35 years old, energetic, very communicable with others, has a high tolerance for when problems arise, is a college graduate, has a degree in business and economics and is some-what knowledgeable of alcoholic beverages and how to run a bar.
  • The third applicant, Megan, is 23 years old, just finished college, very energetic, very friendly with others, was very active in school and the community and was class valedictorian, but she has never worked in either restaurants or bars and has no experience in alcoholic beverages.
  • The fourth applicant, Allison, is 40 years old, very communicable with others, has a high tolerance for when problems arise, is knowledgeable in liquors, spirits and wines, has an advanced certification in wines and spirits education, has a college degree in hospitality and foodservice management and has had previous experience working in a bar.

Based on the resources provided this week and any additional research you conduct; which person would you choose knowing that the economic status is doing very poorly and most people are in need of a job (and he/she would be the best “fit” for your operation)?
Why would or wouldn’t you hire them?

The paper must be double spaced, 1 inch margins, 12 size font, Times New Roman, and the pages must be numbered. It must include a cover sheet. For all material that you have researched, you must include citations throughout the body of the paper, as well as a reference page in MLA format.
